5 Plants to Grow At Home for Diabetic People- Guest Post

As one of the most prevalent metabolic disorders, diabetes requires attention and thorough health management in order to keep its life threatening complications at bay. Diabetes can either be inherited or could be acquired from an unhealthy lifestyle. Either way, diabetes requires continuous treatment and medication to be regulated. Regrettably, drugs have been known to have side effects. Prolonged use of any medication can ultimately lead to degradation
and irreparable damage to the major organs of the body. People diagnosed with diabetes are more susceptible to organ damage due to their drug maintenance for diabetes management.
Excessive medication causes several progressive negative effects on the body.

Quick Curried Pumpkin Soup

I have been privileged to be a part of t he Secret Recipe Club for the past 4 years. Its been a great experience secretly stalking your assigned blog, choosing a recipe to prepare , going live at the same time with so many bloggers all over the world. This however is my last post as a part of this lovely group. Having got passionately involved in growing food, I seem to find myself with less screen time.
This month I was assigned The Calculated Whisk.
I chose this yum Curried Pumpkin Soup since I had a lovely freshly harvested pumpkin sitting in my kitchen.
The soup turned out simply great. Definitely going to prepare this again. The addition of thecoconut milk takes the soup to a different level.

Sweet Potato

Happy to have begun this year with a bountiful harvest of sweet potatoes. If you garden and haven't grown this one, do give it a try. A completely no fuss crop. They are not only easy to grow but very high in anti oxidants, anti inflammatory rich in fibre and much more. In some countries this can be grown all year.

Some of the sweet potato recipes I've tried are...
Sweet Potato Crepes
Sweet Potato Kheer
Sweet Potato Paratha

Planing to try the chaat soon. What are your favourite sweet potato recipes?

Preserving Cherry Tomatoes

Growing your own food sometimes sees a bountiful harvest of one crop. A lot of precision in timing is required for successive planting. A skill I am still working on. Another way around it is to learn preservation, so as to have access to a veggie when you don't have a harvest.
Here are two ways of preserving cherry tomatoes.

1. Freezing
  • Place the tomatoes on a plate and freeze them.
  • Once they have frozen, they will be like marbles.
  • Bag them in zip lock for future use.

2. Sun Dry
  • Bruise the tomatoes, add Himalayan salt, garlic powder, olive oil and mix well.
  • Leve them to sun dry till brittle.
  • Preserve in a glass bottle.
